Christmas really does come in April!!

I was lucky enough to read this book early. When I saw it on my kindle, I can not tell you how happy and nervous I was at the same time. This is one of my very favorite series and with the release of each book, I am a huge frazzled bundle of nerves. I have been living in an Adore Me bubble, and honestly, I did not want to come out of it and have all my hopes and dreams burst. I was highly apprehensive about this book and where the story would go.

It is very hard to write a review without spoilers but all I can say is READ THIS BOOK AND SERIES!! I should not have worried and just trusted Jillian to continue with Keatyn's story. It is HER story and how she will finally get her life back. I think it will go one way, but then there are always twists and turns that Jillian gives us that makes me say....never saw that coming! The reason why I love this series so much is because Jillian has the ability to give me what I didn't know I even wanted. She gives me so much more!!

This story picks up right after Adore Me. Keatyn wants to protect her family, friends, and loved ones while dealing with Vincent. For me, this book has a more serious undertone to it. You really can see what Keatyn is struggling with while trying to get her life back. These are things that no seventeen year old should worry about or give up to just survive. My heart broke for her and the choices she had to make.

But don't get me wrong, this story has a lot of funny and sexy in it too!! The whole gang is back in Eastbrooke and I just loved being around them again. There are no words for Dallas and the things he says and does!! We get naughty santa, furry rugs, and tons of swoon worthy moments for all the couples. And a certain scene involving a pool table..... have mercy!!

And as for Keatyn's loves..... she is torn between her old life and what she knew with Brooklyn and her new life with Aiden. How will it end when the truth finally comes out? Will they hate her or come and get her in the end?? That is the question that I can't wait to find out when Get Me is released in August!!!

Raise your hand if you like a strong, brave heroine. A take-charge gal, a woman of action. Someone with a backbone and a great rack, ha-ha. A girl who's fearless in the face of penis jokes (and even makes her own). A high school junior who's so done with being told what she cannot do, where she cannot go, and whom she cannot visit that she starts to make plans to regain some independence.

There's a scene in Hate Me where Cooper and Keatyn spar. She takes off her shirt. He takes off his. She's strong at her core. It's symbolic. Keatyn has learned to defend herself. She has made herself strong. In another chapter, Keatyn and a jackass veteran actor are reading a scene. She goes off script, to see under his bluster and test what he's got as an actor. He takes her challenge, pushing the scene to a new place. They spar with words. Then she takes off her shirt. He takes off his. They throw punches. It may be my favorite scene in the book. She sure shows him. It's gutsy.

If you have reached this point in the KC series, you, like me, have probably had it up to here with the danger and psychotic threats on Keatyn's life. The black cloud that loomed over Keatyn's safety threw its shadow on even the happy moments. I was ready for it to lift away, and in Hate Me, so is Keatyn. You will love the way she runs her life and the decisions she makes in Hate Me. She's brave in her honesty with other people. She puts her money behind her value system. It's powerful. (and it's a ton of money.)

As for her relationships. . .I don't want to spoil it. I had an idea that things would go one way, from comments I read last fall, and they did not. I like the way things went in the book, so, no complaints. In fact, I think I prefer them as they are written. Good on you, JD. Some of the stickier plot points in earlier books had quite elegant solutions in Hate Me. It's fun to be a few steps behind the author, and to enjoy the plot surprises.

Clear your schedule for a six-hour visit with Keatyn and her post-Thanksgiving life. (It ends right before Christmas.) Does she stay on the island or head back to Eastbrooke? Does she venture off to France? and what about old Aiden? In Adore Me, there was a sense that darling Aiden seemed a little clingy and odd man out. Maybe, alone with each other at the Crab, Keatyn and Damien might have been a contender for best romantic couple ever. Maybe that was on me.

Spoiler *** In the end of Hate Me. . .why does the ending make readers cry? They need to re-read the book (twist my arm, ha-ha). Keatyn has found her center. She knows the right thing to do and she follows through. She'll even fight for it (shirtless). I did not cry, I cheered.
I didn’t want to buy this book- or the next- not a fan of spending so much on a digital book- especially when the book prior had a lot of typos but I’m obsessed with the series and typos aside- the entertainment value is well worth it!!! Far fewer typos in this one... I don’t expect perfection but too many makes me feel like I wasted my money- again- entertainment alone this book is worth overlooking errors. They aren’t blatant so that helps. On to the next!

Hate Me begins with Keatyn having to make a decision. She has spent the last few books running and hiding from Vincent and she is tired of running. She is exhausted and feels responsible for the hardship and turmoil Vincent has caused her, her friends and her family.

Keatyn has to make a choice continue to hide and wait or fight back.

What I loved about this installment lots and lots of God of All of Hotties. Aiden is seriously one of the most swoon worthy characters I have ever read about, and he didn’t let me down in Hate Me.

“I’ve never asked you to promise me forever, Boots,” he says, the hint of a smirk playing on his lips. “Just promise me tomorrow.”

I wasn’t sure how anyone could ever hate my Glitter Whore Keatyn, but Ms. Dodd worked it out perfectly. I loved the direction this book took, and choices made. I cannot wait to read more about Keatyn and the Gang.
